Let’s build gangs!

Our gangs

Inclusive theatre gang Everyone for people from 10 – 14 years old

“Did you just lay that egg, Robert?” the mother asks her son, in one of Ken Campbell’s whimsical stories. Come on, let’s enter Mr. Pilk’s madhouse and embark together on a journey through crazy scenes, sketches, mini-dramas, monodramas, dialogue and anecdotes! After all, what is crazy?”. As Albert Camus said: “If the absurd exists, then only in the universe of man.”

Return from the Stars by Stanislaw Lem – Dance Theatre Gang for people aged 14 and over

Imagine a world where there are no wars, no hatred and no envy. All humans are equal and all dangerous tasks are done by robots! In such a world, an astronaut team finds itself landed in the Earth’s future due to a time dilation. But where they are is no paradise.

Based on the novel by Stanislaw Lem, we want to use dance, movement and theatre to explore some of the questions raised in the book: How can a utopian society function? How free can our decisions actually be? What makes us human? And what does freedom mean for us? The two choreographers Kama Frankl-Groß and Krumping pioneer Kswame Osei alias KidEyez mix urban and contemporary dance styles to create a new dance format.

Artistic direction: Kama Frankl- Groß and Kwame Osei
Rehearsal room: Humboldtstr.
Time: from Saturday, 30.10.2021
Then regular dates in rotation:
Tuesdays 17.00-18:30h and Saturdays 11:00-14:00h

Never Forever based on Falk Richter – Theaterbande Stadtkinder for people aged 16 years and over

We are the generation that is locked in and flexible. The lonely ones, but really well networked. We are the ones who can’t stand length and only take highlights with us. The ones who are busy with project “Me, myself and I” around the clock. For whom any form of attachment means a step backwards, because in our neoliberal society of pressure to perform, in which maximum optionism prevails, all options must be kept open.
We city kids deal with contemporary big city issues of our generation, based on the play by Falk Richter. However, not only texts, but also choreographic and musical elements are the subject of everyday rehearsals. Your thoughts and stories are welcome in this archive of sensitivities.

Artistic director: Nediem Arem
Rehearsal room: Humboldtstr.
Time: Sundays, from 31 October 2021 to 27 March 2022, 3:00-6:00 p.m. each day.
Performances in April
Costs: 60 euros

Bochum Encounters – For the curious from 10 to 100 years old

Tell me who you are!
After our podcast tour for the city’s anniversary, we want to find out much more about life, about growing up in Bochum. We are looking for more wonderful stories and unique experiences that tell us how we became who we are here in Bochum. How did/does the love, the fashion or the school go? How does it feel to walk around in Kamil’s clothes for a day or to join Miriam’s hip-hop group? With the magic of theatre, we will facilitate diverse encounters between the generations. A presentation is planned for 21 May with the Bochum Symphony Orchestra and the Junges Schauspielhaus.

Artistic director: Susanne Scheffler
Participation is free of charge.

Start: on 20.1. and until May every Thursday. 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., except on the Easter holidays.

Gender Tonic – Research Theatre Gang for all from 15 years onwards

Desiring bodies, loving people, re- and/or (de)constructing identity. What does “gender” actually mean? What can this word mean at all? What do we want to express with this word? Gender and theatre, how do they fit together? We want to discuss these questions with you in a protected space. This gang is not about putting a classical performance on stage, but we want to try out many things with you.

Artistic directors: Orane Courtalin and Lenhardt Walter
Location: Rehearsal room Humboldtstraße
Time: Kick-off autumn holidays: 18-22 October 2021, from 11:00-15:00

Die Welt wird eine andere gewesen sein – Für Kinder ab 10 Jahren

Who are we after this long time? What do we remember of “the world” before?

What if there had been no pandemic, if there had been no climate change or if you had never been born? Together we explore time, space and what that does to us. We playfully develop parallel universes and jump through the matrix. We superimpose the different worlds and look out through a window onto our many stories. We will do researches with the help of a podcast and a digital theatre tour, which we will develop together, and present our results in a play development on the stage of the theaterrevier.

The project is funded by Wege ins Theater, the ASSITEJ project within the funding programme “Kultur macht stark. Bündnisse für Bildung” of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

Direction: Josephine Raschke and others.
Assistance: Jana Hornung
