The Junges Schauspielhaus Bochum opened its new “Theaterrevier” on Sunday, September 27th 2020. The former “Zeche Eins” is now used as a stage for children’s and youth theater. The “Drama Control”, a supervisory board composed of 15 children and young adults between 5 and 21, substancially decides on the core principles as well as the program of the Theaterrevier.
The creation of the Theaterrevier was made possible by a funding of 1.3 million euros from the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia as part of the “Neue Wege” program.
“Breaking things in order to create new ones, letting voices be heard that no one else wanted to hear, offering stages and taking up space. We are the Drama Control of the Junges Schauspielhaus Bochum and have decided that this place, the Theaterrevier, will be a place for everyone,” said Drama Control members Finnja Negendank (15) and Annika Bode (17) at the Theaterrevier’s opening.
